Between The Years

Of course we celebrated Christmas. Is it the low light, why we're posting so little? The rush of holiday festivities? The thrill of new presents? Christmas eve was all about the magic glow in kids' eyes. Even Henri kinda got it, especially since all his presents where not only colorful, but also chewable. Karl got a massive Lego pirate ship that is now in the upper bunk of his bed (so Henri can't reach it), which is now his second favorite place to hang out (the favorite still being any adult's lap who is willing to read to him). The real reason why we haven't posted much are of course the slightly feverish days since we had our great Christmas dinner bash on Christmas day. Karl and now Henri have been running fevers of 102 to 104 degrees (39 - 40 Celsius). Doctor said not to worry. It's just a virus, no antibiotics necessary. But a nasty virus it is. So we're trying to enjoy the great indoors as much as we can, although it takes some getting used to listening to Henri's hoarse cries and Karl's inconsolable whines. They do hit those primal scream frequencies that used to get the tribe into high alert mode. Even worse tough - those beady little eyes pleading "can you make it all go away now please?"

  1. Oy...they do look feverish and sick in that last pic Andrian + Fredster.... Hope they get better soon!!
Lukas has a cold as well and kept us awake pretty much the whole night the day before. But yesterday we gave him saline rinse and he slept better. But it seems his phelgm(spelling?) + hoarse voice is not going away so fast though.
And tonite...he cried for 45 minutes because we are enforcing a new sleeping routine so he had more runny nose and hoarse voice!!
Anywho, HAPPY NEW YEAR BOTHE-KREYE clan :) Here's to a healthier and happier new year!!
    Kram,
    Team Lukas

  2. Oh no ... i hope they feel better soon!

What is it about the Holidays and kids getting sick? So many viruses are going around every year! On Xmas Day, Tobin got a sudden fever spike out of nowhere - 103.5°F - which lasted exactly 24 hours. We were lucky it didn't spread to Mika. Now at the age of 6, her immune systems is much more advanced than it was in preschool - but she earned it the hard way during the past 5 Winter seasons.
