Bigtime Showtime

Showtime! Karl's breakdance class was part of the Moroder Dance Academy's year end show in the rather impressive concert hall of the superposh suburbia of Unterföhring. Turns out his teacher Martin Moroder is not only the owner of the place, but also the nephew of Giorgio Moroder of Munich Sound Disco Hollywood Soundtrack fame, whose new album by sheer coincidence is currently Karl's favorite album. This is entertainment royalty!

Boy, did we fanclub the afternoon. So here he went (he's in the right line of kids second from behind, his solo is at 1:24... focus shifting in and out, since the iPhone lens can't quite cope with a professional pop stage lightshow like this):

He sure was proud. And so were we! There you go Karl!

Once More....

...I left them alone at the barber's.... actually not true, this time I approved, knowing that a little swagger stroll down the road sporting soccer star haircuts is a thrill ride as short as the lifespan of a handful of colorful hair product.

Later in the afternoon it was time to check on the tomatoes tended to. Proud moment - first batch worthy of a tomato salad!

Harvest time. Followed by some more tender loving care by the boy with the green thumbs.

Out On The Town

Saturday! A good time for the ninjafiresupermanheros to hit the town for some serious summer fun.

Like that great show of James Bond set architect Ken Adam, where you could see his original Oscar...

...a whole lotta damn great action clips...

...and some of his models, which impressed Henri enough to give me some serious lifting up Henri workout, since they placed them all in kid-unfriendly heights.

Next stop - lunch. Ok, daddy's choice of dim sum, pho and summer rolls. Medium successful with a bunch of Bavarian carnivores.

Better - a reading and drawing session with children's book illustrator Sophie Schmid, which was organized for Munich's bookstore day. She read from a great book about a rabbit with a serious bout of the hickups. The boys enjoyed the reading, but went for some more adventureous fare when it was time to do some solidarity purchases.

More to their taste - open door day at the central fire department.

With the usual fire truck climb.

Big impressive highlight was a show of the special reptile catcher unit, which had some seriously nasty snapping turtles....

...and a scary big python.

But hey - nothing tops the thrill of visiting the Halloween store in mid-summer. Aiiiigghhhhhh!!!

Company Party

What did I say about leaving the boys to their own devices? Anyway - there was the annual company party at the paper's office. They had a photo booth. There they went. I don't know what they head inside, since there was no sound or music around that booth, but it was obviously the same song.

More Heatwave

Fantastic heat wave keeps on keeping on. That means - daily ice creams (remember, we live right next door to the best ice cream parlor of Eastern Munich)...

...visits to the park, where you might get lucky and some dude is making huge massive mega soap bubbles....

...or you can spend Saturday hanging out at home, reading library loot to your little brother on the patio...

...we did go to the public pool though...

...and drove out to grandpa Paul's, where we hung out at the lakeside beach (not shown), had fun on the run (above) and a somewhat peaceful and serene lunch back at his place. More to come! That weather app shows littles sun icons only for the next ten days.

Heatwave

There's a heat wave goin' on so spending time blogging in the top floor office under the roof is not one of the literally coolest things to do these days. But there is no excuse to slack off - point made by this photo. This is what happens, when you have to run to the bank machine for two minutes and you leave the boys alone at the barbershop. Soccer star haircuts!

Luckily they wash out. And the boys of course can back it up with top sports action on those new boards recently acquired at various flea markets.

Up and down the steep hills of Denning.

Topped off with some Spiderman moves.

We also had some visitors from New York City, which was a delight. Hey Eric! Hey Anton! Henri wants me to tell you to come back pronto. We agree.

That's it for now. Too hot to post. But on another note from Henri - you can beat the heat. And have lots of fun doing so.
