10

Ten years ago today the love of my life said yes. Ten years ago the best time of my life began. And despite the pugilist stance in this photo made just before our wedding vows, we never battle, we sometimes sparr, we mostly stand shoulder to shoulder. So here we are. What started as a twosome under a tree full of peyonies in the Bronx is now a family of four in a minty green house in the sunny town of Munich. Why we still call each other/others call us Lobies, that pun on the word engagement? Maybe because large parts of our life still feel like a honeymoon.

Rainy Saturday

A rainy day, a bit of a fever (Henri), the construction of elaborate playmobil worlds (Karl), art sessions (both) - many a reason to enjoy the great indoors. Never a dull moment. Although we had to put to rest our hope the two might not be infected with video game fever. Watch for yourself, what happens, when the two get hold of controlers (this was the 12th round, each lasting up to five minutes):

And yes, that is a blank screen.

Bridge Days

There is a great cluster of random religious and political holidays stretched over these weeks, which include a lot of bridge days (work days between a holiday and weekday, which can be used to maximize your European vacation time), which leads to little pockets of work and penty of time to drive out to grandpa's and blow some bubbles...

...hang out on a hunters' hide....

...go to a Cobwoy themed children's musical....

...with some distinctively politically not correct undertones....

...accompany dad on errands....

.....eat Chinese noodle soup....

....many an ice cream....

....and finally prove at the Zoo that your Bavarian roots don't even go skin deep

(not pictured - Henri grooving to a beer garden rock band, us seeing the polar bear cubs that keep Munich in a state of cute overload for five months now, us going to see "Rio2" in 3D, which was AWEsome, dad now collapsing from an overdose of carbs, sugars and sodas - how do the DO it?!)
