Pain Of The Day

Since Ariane – now at home in Stuttgart – was in town today, we met up with my ex-KMS-coworkers. I was really happy to see everybody, but unfortunately not capable to have a somewhat focused conversation while trying to control the behaviour of my two boys. When Henri poured a full glass of lemonade over himself and me, I realised that it was time to leave the jam-packed place. I hope to see you all again soon. Maybe at a playground this time.

And please welcome the youngest member of the bunch: lovely Greta, two months old, daughter of my friends Sabrina and Michi. Not only Henri enjoyed meeting you...

P.S.: We met at Le Pain Quotidien, in case you were wondering about the headline.

  2. Not much to miss here, Sooks. The quality of the pastry is quite poor. I'm really wondering why this place is packed all the time since you can get amazing pastries in many other cute cafes around here.

  3. They're the only cafe with a communal table - a concept that i really love.

My first encounter with the chain was 20 years ago in Antwerp, Belgium, when they had just started out. We were visiting the Plantin Museum of Printing with my typography class, and I thought it was just one unique bakery/cafe. You can imagine how surprised i was to see them sprout all over Manhattan later on, although the pastries back in Belgium were a lot better (or our tastes were less spoiled?).
