TRIPPLE YAY! In all capitals. We found a house. We made a bid. We got it. Phew. It might've been the last house for sale in Munich. No kidding. If any of you had to listen to us bitch about the Munich real estate market in the past few years - here's some more war stories... realtors are advertising that they're sorry about a lack of inventory, potential buyers should be patient. Munich papers run not stories, but series about the overheated real estate market. And when you read up on real estate in Germany - everything built or renovated between the years 1945 and 1986 is poisoned, dilapidated, overpriced debris.
This was the 48th house we pursued. It was built in 1930. After the dozens of claustrophobic rowhouses in our price range finding a "Doppelhaushälfte" (semi-detached) with a nice garden was actually quite a relief. There were roughly 80 people interested. Actually, the nice lady who owned it didn't really sell it to us. It was quite literally Karl's clear blue eyes which convinced her to take our offer, even though somebody tried to outbid us the next day. Karl and Henri already took a liking to the place. Well, two apple trees bearing luscious fruit to pick kinda helped.

So we're already in the preproduction phase of the epic "Pimp Our Crib". Found a great architect who's gonna help us turn the weathered semi into a modern green living machine (despite my taste for retro style that funky Queens style plastering on the facade will have to go). Two more major pluses - it'll have a guest room. And there's an ice cream parlor right next door.
Big big congratulations guys!!!! 48th house? Seriously!! Crazy!! It looks beautiful... Looking forward to visiting you guys in the future :)
