Big day for Henri - the race for the ski course championship was on!
Luckily last week there was enough snow, so it was back to the Hexenwald, where many a training run was conducted.
It sure was prep school.
So here you see Henri crossing the finish line. And here is his run:
Sure makes you proud as a parent when your boys slide down a mountainside at high (kinda high) speed, even though this is one of the few instances where achievement has nothing to do with upbringing. It's all genetically embedded when you're born in Bavaria.
Tense moments, when the winners were read aloud in reverse order. Which meant, the longer you had to wait, the higher your scored.
Silver! Henri was incredibly proud and happy, if not happiest. Well, so were we.
Next morning moods were dampened a bit. We got to go and see a super secret show cellist Yo-Yo Ma did for a couple of hundred refugees at the Munich studios of Bavarian Public Radio (reaallyyyyy?! A CONcerrrt?! To be fair - they were still a bit boreshocked from having to endure the Weihnachtsoratorium back in December, no offense, but that piece can turn the most dedicated fan of great music into induce headbanging of a different kind than metal)
It was actually a quite great show ideally suited for kids, since he explained the history and make-up for a crowd of teens and children from cultures with music based on non-tempered scales. In the end the boys actually quite liked it (and later in the interview Yo-Yo Ma was actually quite excited that there were two even younger boys in that crowd who were digging his show)
And then of course there was lunch. Pizza and funny faces with mom! What a weekend this is.
