Of course it was time for another vacation. That trip to England was already eight weeks ago! Oh Europe. So off we went to well another beautiful member of the European Union - Austria! Freshly recovered from a close election for president (some Nazi thug lost by a whisker to a Green Party gentleman).
There were a lot of lakes in those mountains of Steiermark.
The one in this photo is the one where the Nazis (the original Nazis) sunk a gold treasure into the deepest depths. It was never found. Still a good reason to strike an action hero pose.
Did I mention that we went with Marie and Florian (and their parents not pictured) and stayed in a nice chalet?
We had the one next to the second tree up.
With a view of the mountain Loser, pronounced Lauzer, but of course to Karl's delight spelled like loser.
Anyway - there were hikes every day. Into the forrest, where you can learn a lot (here mom's actually explaining to Henri what some free climbers did on a rock wall).
Since there was a flower festival there were some parties to go to. Do you see Henri's prime spot to watch the band?
Oh, and yes, more lakes.
To throw pebbles into.
And more hikes.
This one actually to the cabin at the far end of Lake Altaussee where they shot that scene in the James Bond Spectre movie, where Bond goes to see the old dude. Karl was medium excited about the hiking and posing for photos part.
But he was super excited about visiting a Bond film site!
And the lakeside. Where you could actually take a Caribbean worthy swim with a view of snow capped mountain ranges.
The water was a tad bit chilly.
All the more fun to splash others with it.
This was indeed one of the most beautiful areas we've ever been to. And avid readers of this blog know we've been to a few.
