Vacation Flashback (The Bru)

Whenever there's talk about vacations (Europeans are obsessed with vacations, mainly because they have so many that there's always some planning to do), Karl talks about his favorite part, the Black Forest. "Because Bruno was there". Which of course was his first real analog experience with "The Bru" from Brooklyn who he knows quite well from the numerous blog posts. They've only met twice so far, two years ago for a stopover minute at the visitor's park at Munich airport. They couldn't care less about each other back then. Before that they were just too young to dig. It was quite different this time though.

Instant buddies. The fun was ON and not even a rainstorm could stop it. Pretty fly setup it was. Big garden, kiddie pools, a baker who provided free candy, a public pool with a cafe which carried all the essential ice creams, cartoons at night and even an electric race track excavated from the deepest depths of the Roehl family childhoods.

Funny how fast little boys can gang up on you, fueled by a bit of sugar and sun though (notice how Sasha and Henri try to join in)....

There was even a brief visit from cousin Max (who lives just a good hours' car ride away in Switzerland). Who was a bit unpopular for a moment, when he got a present from his godmother Fred and the other didn't (wasn't for long and he joined the gang though).

And there were of course the other two kids, kind hanging in the background of the maelstrom of boyish energy. They knew just what to do on a breezy summer's day. They fell in love.
