One!
Yeah Henri! It's your birthday! Yeah Henri! It's your birthday! Goooo Henri! It's your birthday!

Hard to believe it's been a year. A "just", "already" or "only" should probably been inserted before the "been", but somehow the sense of time has been kinda jumbled by the arrival of Henri on March 19th 2010. Life without Henri by now defies memory. On the other hand it does feel like that year passed in a minute. Ken put it kinda right, that warped sense of time with more than one child - long days, short years. Pure delight that Mr. Henri (alright, sans the late-night scream-fests, meth-head-style sleep patterns, let's not get too gushy).
He sure loved his birthday. Well who wouldn't, if you got showered with the perfect presents from all over the nation. Smooth operator that he is, he picked another favorite gift every other hour, so if all gift-givers would've been present, they'd all be happy to see him enjoying the fruits of his big day.
A bit more favorite than the others is probably the frog-green Brio walker and the military grade soccer ball he both got from Omi. Mass mileage already. Hey Omi, by the way, does the green monster machine come with a new set of new furniture?! Well, we'll just have to learn to steer him in the right directions (which will become a great metaphor for the sisyphosian endeavor that will be for the rest of our lives).
The day was crowned in style with a free-hand ride on the red elephant down at the playground. Had I mentioned the bright blue eyes he's been flashing all day long melting his parents and driving his bother nuts with jealousy? Ooooh, Karl, this day too will pass and we'll try to shower both of you with equal amounts of love.
Happy Birthday, big little brother! Don't let them call you baby no more ;-)
ReplyDeleteHere's a tip regarding the walker: we simply put those self adhesive (big!) foamy corner protectors right on the front corners of our wooden doll cart. The kids ran it into the walls and furniture without ever leaving a dent: http://minitosu.com/?p=1380
In your case, the BRIO's wheels might protrude too much - or you simply can't stand the look of stick-on bumpers ;-)
Already?!!! Ooooh, i will have to send a belated...so sorry Fredster :P I am catching up on a lot of stuff these days...excuse moi!
ReplyDeleteBut more importantly, HAPPY HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY HENRIIIIIIIIIIIIII :) We love you and miss you dearly here in Sweden!!
MÃ¥nga pussar och kramar,
