Castle (not quite in the sky, but pretty close, since it's in the mountains)

The weather was glorious, so it was time for an outing. Karl had expressed his desire to go to the mountains. Since Henri's skills of expressing desire are not quite that refined, but since we do know that his idea of fun is not to be carried along some mountain path, we found a compromise - Lake Chiem. They got an island with one of those great overdone King Ludwig castles on it. We'd been there before with Karl, when he was about Henri's age. So off we went to the boat.

Karl was all old pro on board, having indepth discussions with mom, as if the marvels of naval engineering are something to laugh at. Henri was quite impressed with our mode of travel though.

Upon arrival Karl occupied a small (actually very tiny) island, declaring it part of his pirate fiefdom.

Occupying of course mostly leads to pillaging. Snacks were appropriated in style on the edge of one of the fountains King Ludwig copied from those colleagues in Versailles (take that copyright fanatics).

Karl and Henri were quite taken with the elaborate settings and the trippy fountain decor.

The day was rounded off with some good old fashioned lion taming.

Hey, who wouldn't like to tame a lion for desert (not pictured - endless weekend traffic jam on the way home, which made us detour along some very rural backroads, where the splendor of posh Bavaria gives ways to some harsh peasant drabness, so of course - not pictured).
