Swamp Things

There are so many holidays in supercatholic Bavaria, we tend to lose track, despite enjoying the fruits of the piety of our home state's legislators. Yesterday it was Ascension Day, which supposedly is not a celebration of the genius of John Coltrane. So off we went to Seeshaupt, home of Opa Paul and near the beautiful moorlands of the Easter Lakes (again - it's Catholic around here with a capital C).

Opa Paul got some nice long reeds for the boys, which were alternately used as swords and fishing rods.

There's something said for the Bavarian landscape in spring. Even though one should not make the mistake bto assume that the boys are turning into outdoorsies. Karl actually hardly said hello upon arrival, disposed of his foot- and outerwear to bolt upstairs, where the stash of my old comic books is located. He is a fanatic reader (no he can't actually "read", but leaf througher sounds weird) of Tintin books these days, so only the threat of serious sancitions, i.e. the banning of Tintin books for the day, got him out of the house again.

Where a heavy competition for the swing in Opa's garden ensued (you can guess who won by the facial expressions).

All is always good though when gummy bears come into the mix. So here on a rather harmonious note the fadeout and credits of this post (we would like to thank Opa Paul for the retrieval of reeds, Maria for the baking of a cake and Milena for the gentle supervision of rodeo-like movements around the house).
