Cultcha Weekend

Enough with the sports. This weekend it 's all about culture! First up was the annual family concert my paper is organizing with the Symphony Orchestra of Bavarian Public Radio. It always features the actor Rufus Beck (famous in Germany as the voice of Harry Potter audio books) reading a fairy tale exclusively written for a piece of classical music plus drawings by my old friend Martin Fennel.

This year it was Edward Elgar's 2nd symphony with a story about a witch and a dwarf hunting down a treasure.

Did you know that orchestra level rows make excellent sprint tracks?

You didn't? Well, now you know.

Afterwards it was lunch at my favorite taco place in town.

Karl ordered seconds.

A brief stint to the playground.

Now Karl has his buddy Johanna over. They're drawing comic strips and listen to Rick Rubin's Star War's CD, which has actually very little to do with Star Wars and is basically a super progressive electro album with a few Star Wars sounds in it. Anyway, they turned the volume way up. Enough to chase me out of the room, since that stuff's way to progressive for me (I did try to teach them Miles, Monk and Mingus, obviously to no avail).

Tomorrow - off to the movies. The new Disney movie is supposed to be fantastic.
