The rainy Sunday was perfect to put our bounty (see last post) to some use. So here we go for the falltime classic - making stuff out of chestnuts and sticks!
Karl got all mid-century modern,
whilest Henri was more into outright minimalism to contrast the slightly elaborate constructions of his parents.
It was defnititely more about form follows function than aesthetics in his case, since he found various uses for his construction, like making long distance calls on a pair of chestnut which could also easily be turned into a weapon.
The biggest hits were mom's creatures though, which were designed for giggles. Worked every time....

Awesome ... brings back childhood memories :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome idea!! There's soo many near my workplace... say... how did you get those stick in so easily...did you boil them? Or those like super sharp + strong special german sticks??? Please tell Fredster!
ReplyDeleteHey Sooki, we drilled little holes with one of these guys here: https://svpply.com/item/1430514/Handbohrer__Gimlet – I'm sure Johan has one of those. I think they're called gimlet (I thought that was a drink). Of course only the adult are allowed to use it. Otherwise you can use a regular wood screw to make the holes. The chestnuts are actually not as hard as they seem.
ReplyDeletehmm... i will ask him, but i don't think he has one.. lukas and i went out saturday and got TONS of chesnuts, perhaps we do it this coming weekend :) will do a post!
